Natural-Looking Results
Each denture is made to suit the patient's face and smile, so it looks natural and feels comfortable.
A Secure, Comfortable Fit
Careful fitting and adjustment help dentures stay stable and comfortable, so eating and speaking feel natural again.
Delivered On-Site
No transport, no clinic waiting rooms. Assessments, fittings, relines, and repairs all happen at the patient's residence.
Ongoing Care & Adjustments
Gums and bone change over time. We provide relines, adjustments, and repairs to keep dentures fitting well for years.
Modern Dentures, Crafted With 3D Precision
Traditional denture impressions rely on trays of thick putty held in the mouth. This is uncomfortable for many seniors and difficult for patients with a strong gag reflex, limited mobility, or cognitive challenges.
Our digital 3D intraoral scanner captures a detailed, accurate map of the mouth in minutes, with no messy impression material. The result is a more precise fit, greater comfort, and fewer adjustment visits.
Digital scans are also stored securely, so replacement dentures or relines can be produced from an existing record. This helps a lot with ongoing care in a facility.
Why a Well-Fitting Denture Matters With Age
Dentures do far more than fill a gap. For older adults, a comfortable, well-fitting denture supports some of the things that matter most to daily quality of life.

Eating and Nutrition
Poorly fitting dentures make chewing painful, leading seniors to avoid nutritious foods. Over time this affects nutrition, energy and overall health.
Speech and Confidence
Stable, comfortable dentures help seniors speak clearly and smile with confidence, supporting social connection and wellbeing.
Facial Support
Teeth and dentures support the muscles of the face. A well-made denture helps maintain a natural facial shape and appearance.
Changing Gums and Bone
After teeth are lost, the underlying bone and gums gradually change shape. That is why dentures need periodic relines to keep fitting well.
Comfort and Sore Prevention
Ill-fitting dentures rub and cause sores that can go unnoticed in patients who cannot easily communicate discomfort. Regular fit checks prevent this.
Oral and General Health
Clean, well-fitting dentures reduce the risk of denture stomatitis and other infections that can affect general health in older adults.
What May Be Included
The specific care provided depends on each patient's needs and oral health. Where clinically appropriate, our denture services may include the following:
Full upper and/or lower dentures custom-made for patients with no remaining natural teeth.
Removable partials that replace some missing teeth while working around the patient's remaining natural teeth.
Where a patient already has dental implants, dentures that clip securely onto them for added stability (subject to assessment).
Refitting the base of an existing denture to match gums and bone that have changed shape over time. Soft and hard relines are available.
Repair of cracked, broken, or damaged dentures and replacement of broken or missing denture teeth.
Careful adjustment of dentures that rub, slip, or cause sore spots, so they sit comfortably and securely.
Comfortable, mess-free digital scanning of the mouth for precise, well-fitting dentures and easy future replacements.
Thorough cleaning of dentures and guidance for patients and care staff on effective daily denture hygiene.
How Denture Care Is Delivered On-Site
Every step happens in the patient's own environment. There is no transport, no unfamiliar clinic and no disruption to daily routines.

On-Site Assessment & 3D Scan
Our clinician assesses the patient's mouth and existing dentures, then captures a comfortable digital 3D scan. This is done at the bedside or in a familiar room.
Custom Design & Fabrication
Using the digital scan, dentures are designed and fabricated to fit the patient precisely, with attention to comfort and natural appearance.
Fitting & Adjustment
We fit the dentures on-site and make careful adjustments to ensure they sit securely and comfortably, with no sore spots.
Follow-Up & Maintenance
We return for follow-up checks, relines, and repairs as needed, so the dentures keep fitting well as the patient's mouth changes.

How Families and Caregivers Can Help
Dentures work best when they are cared for and monitored between professional visits. Families and care staff can make a real difference in a few simple ways.
Watch for Fit Changes
If dentures start to slip, click, or cause sore spots, or if the patient avoids wearing them, let us know. A reline or adjustment may be needed.
Support Daily Cleaning
Dentures should be cleaned daily and removed overnight where advised. We can demonstrate simple, effective denture cleaning routines.
Keep Us Informed
Changes in weight, health, or medications can affect denture fit and oral tissues. Keeping us updated helps us provide the right care.
Encourage Wearing Them
Some seniors stop wearing dentures because of discomfort. Often a simple adjustment solves it, so please tell us rather than letting them go unused.
Label the Dentures
In care settings, clearly labelled dentures are far less likely to be lost or mixed up. We can advise on discreet labelling.
Ask Questions
Every visit is a chance to ask about your loved one's denture care. We are always happy to explain what we recommend and why.
Why Facilities Value This Service
For retirement homes and long-term care communities, reliable on-site denture care supports resident wellbeing while reducing the burden on staff.
On-Site, No Transport
Residents receive denture care in the comfort of your facility. There is no need to arrange transport, escorts or off-site appointments.
Fewer Discomfort Complaints
Prompt relines and adjustments reduce sore spots and denture complaints that can affect residents' comfort and mood.
Documentation for Records
Clear notes from each visit can be shared with your care team, supporting continuity of care and resident health records.
Better Resident Nutrition
Well-fitting dentures help residents chew and eat comfortably, which supports nutrition, enjoyment of meals and overall health.
Simplified Scheduling
We coordinate directly with your team to arrange visits efficiently, minimising administrative effort for staff.
Clear Family Communication
We communicate findings and recommendations to families or substitute decision-makers, reducing the facility's role as intermediary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Our clinicians bring portable, clinical-grade equipment, including a digital 3D scanner, directly to the patient. Assessment, scanning, fitting, adjustments, relines, and repairs can all be carried out at the bedside or in a familiar room, with no need to travel to a clinic.
Instead of thick impression putty, we use a small digital scanner to capture a precise map of the mouth in minutes. It is much more comfortable, especially for seniors with a strong gag reflex or cognitive challenges. It also produces a more accurate, better-fitting denture with fewer adjustment visits. The digital record also makes future replacements easier.
Not necessarily. As gums and bone change shape, an existing denture can often be relined (refitted) or adjusted rather than fully replaced. We assess the denture and the underlying tissues and recommend the most appropriate, cost-effective option.
Private and third-party insurance may apply, and other government dental programs may be available depending on eligibility. Please contact our office so we can confirm which coverage options SMDS can support.
It varies by individual and the type of denture, but the process generally involves an initial assessment and scan, fabrication, a fitting visit, and follow-up adjustments. We will give you a clear timeframe after the first assessment and keep you informed at each stage.
We are very experienced with patients who have advanced needs. We work calmly and patiently, adapt to each person, and welcome the presence of familiar family or care staff. Comfortable digital scanning is especially helpful for patients who cannot tolerate traditional impressions.
